The California Student Opportunity and Access Program is pleased to announce: Rewarding College Dreams Scholarship Program
Award
Scholarships will be awarded to Cal-SOAP seniors from the listed high schools in
San Diego and Imperial Counties. Students must:
$1,000
Enroll full-time and attend a California Community College and complete an
Education Plan with the intent of transferring to a California 4-year college
or university.
$2,000
Enroll full-time and attend a California 4-year college or university
(public or private) pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree.
All students who meet the following criteria are eligible to participate:
Must be a high school senior attending one of the high schools listed
on the following page and must be served by Cal-SOAP or one of its college
preparation partner programs (AVID, GEAR UP, EAOP, Upward Bound, ETS,
Compact for Success, etc).
Must apply and be admitted to a community college to be considered for the
Community College Award, or must apply and be admitted to a university to
be considered for the University Award.
Must have a weighted GPA of 2.0 or better for the Community College Award
or have a weighted GPA of 2.8 or better for the University Award.
Write a 500 word essay on one of the three provided prompts.
Complete the 2012-2013 FAFSA and GPA Verification Form by the March 2nd deadline.
Check with your high school registrar to see if they submit the GPA verification for you.
Provide a photocopy or printout of the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as determined
by FAFSA.
Must submit a copy of your financial aid award letter or statement for the 2012-2013 school
year (as provided by your college/university) by August 1, 2012.
Scholarship applications must be postmarked or submitted no later than Thursday,
MARCH 15, 2012. Students are to mail or drop off their scholarship application
packets to the San Diego Cal-SOAP office.
Students will be notified by May 1, 2012 regarding their acceptance status. If awarded,
there will be further information regarding the mandatory Scholarship
Awards Ceremony on Sunday May 20, 2012. All scholarship moneys will be sent directly
to college or university campuses by September 30, 2012, not before.
